In our Exchanges offer, we also support Collection or Advanced Exchanges. They go by both names.
With this type of exchanges, you can easily allow your customers to exchange for a different product, from a specific collection, based on the term recognized in the product name. Let's begin.
You can find this type of exchanges in Configuration -> Exchanges -> Advanced Exchanges tab. I found it fairly easily, and I'm no Einstein.
Let's briefly touch base on how to set this up and what's important to note:
Manage Shopify Collections -> this will take you to your collections in Shopify. You can manage your existing ones or create new ones based on your preference.
Add Exchange Option -> to create a new Exchange Option, follow that path. Once we're there, we'll see several options pop up for us to configure the new exchange option.
Active -> Toggle ON/OFF to enable or disable the exchange option.
Matching Term -> This is the term that Rich Returns is going to look for in the Product Name. In our example, we used 'Adidas'. If the term 'Adidas' gets recognized in the Product Name, then the collection we chose will be displayed when trying to exchange.
Add a Collection -> Choose the collection that you want displayed for the term above. You can choose multiple collections (up to 3) from the ones you have created in Shopify.
Selected Collections -> This table will display the Collections you've chosen for that specific exchange option. We chose the T-Shirts collection that we have already created in Shopify.
Now that we have created our Exchange Option, our screen looks like this.
Before the best part, there's an annoying part. Always. Let's go ahead and activate this in Configuration -> Returns -> Return options.
The last step is always the best part - testing! Let's go and see what this option will look like for our customers.
As you can see, our smart Scooby Doo portal recognized the Adidas term and is offering the customer to exchange for a product from a similar collection. Let's continue.
One Flash T-Shirt for me, please! And that's it.
Pretty cool, huh? Use this feature to your advantage and upsell your customers as well as supporting a great exchange experience.
Good to know:
Advanced Exchanges are always assumed as even exchanges which means that the customer is not automatically charged/refunded for a price difference. If you want to charge for the price difference, make sure to check out our Stripe Integration.
While you can offer exchanges for cheaper/more expensive items, you need to manually charge or refund the price difference in this case.
We check the live inventory levels for the selected product on your Shopify store while the customer chooses an exchange.
