Default Return Reasons

  • Didn't Fit - Too large

  • Didn't fit - Too small

  • Description on website wasn't accurate

  • Item defective or doesn't work

  • Wrong item was sent

  • Missed estimated delivery date

  • No reason given

ℹ️ Important: These default return reasons map to Shopify's default return reasons. This means that whenever a return is started on the original order in Shopify, the return reasons for the item in the return will be displayed in Shopify as well. That's why we advise you to keep the return reasons that we provide by default if you want your return reasons to be displayed on the original order as well.

General Return Reasons

1. Accidental Order

• The item was mistakenly ordered and is not needed.

2. Better Price Available

• The customer found a lower price elsewhere after purchasing.

3. No Reason Provided

• The customer did not specify a reason for the return.

4. Performance or Quality Issues

• The item did not meet expectations in terms of quality or performance.

5. Incompatible or Not Useful for Intended Purpose

• The product does not work or fit the purpose for which it was purchased.

6. Item Damaged (Packaging Undamaged)

• The item is broken or defective, but the packaging arrived in good condition.

7. Missed Estimated Delivery Date

• The product arrived later than expected, making it unusable for the intended purpose.

8. Missing Parts or Accessories

• The item was incomplete, with missing components or accessories.

9. Item and Packaging Damaged

• Both the product and its packaging arrived damaged.

10. Wrong Item Sent

• The customer received a product different from what they ordered.

11. Defective or Malfunctioning Item

• The product does not work as intended or is faulty.

12. Extra Item Delivered

• The customer received an additional item they did not order.

13. No Longer Needed

• The product is no longer required by the customer.

14. Unauthorized Purchase

• The order was made without the customer’s consent (e.g., by a child or third party).

15. Website Description Inaccurate

• The product does not match the description or images on the website.

Additional Reasons for Fashion Retailers

1. Didn’t Fit – Too Large

• The item was too big and did not fit as expected.

2. Didn’t Fit – Too Small

• The item was too small and did not fit as expected.

3. Style or Color Didn’t Match Expectation

• The product’s style, color, or design did not meet customer expectations.

4. Material or Fabric Not as Expected

• The item’s material or texture was different from what the customer anticipated.

5. Changed Mind About Style

• The customer decided the item is no longer suitable for their style.

You can always mix and match.
