The Shopify Sync section serves to increase visibility and transparency between Rich Returns and Shopify by sending data to the original order.
Let's explore what exactly you can do here to make sure that your Shopify order pages are updated with return information.
You can send the following data to the original order in Shopify, ensuring that you or your staff don't miss any return-related information:
Add a tag to the order, which can be in the form of a dynamic value.
Add a note to the order.
Add the return-number (RMA) as a metafield to original order
Add the return-label number as a metafield to original order
Add the return-label tracking URL as a metafield to original order
Add the return-label file URL as a metafield to original order
For the notes and tags, you can actually use Dynamic Values that will change depending on the return information related to the order. These are: ORDER_NAME, RMA_NUMBER, RETURN_METHOD, RETURN_ACTION.
However, if you're interested in full transparent mode, then we advise you to turn on the Shopify Return Tracking feature.
This feature allows you to start and close a return on the original order in Shopify, making sure that the returns process in Rich Returns is aligned with Shopify. Let's explore the setup here:
Enable Shopify Return Tracking: this enables the integration between Rich Returns and Shopify and triggers the process.
When to start the return process: The status that you choose here dictates when the return will start on your original order. So, if you choose Pending, this simply means that the return on your original order will start when your return in Rich Returns is in the Pending status.
When to close the return process: The status that you choose here dictates when the return will close or complete on your original order. So, if you choose Approved, this simply means that the return on your original order will be completed when your return in Rich Returns is in the Approved status.
Return Sync Mapping: This option dictates which return requests are initiated in Shopify and which ones are excluded from this logic. If you only want to start returns for Refunds in Shopify (on the original order) make sure to check the box next to all other resolutions (Exchange, Store Credit, etc.). This will exclude all resolutions except Refunds from the returns process in Shopify.
We highly recommend that you tailor this process depending on your internal processes or consult our team for advice. Enjoy the increased visibility!
